Loan Apps approval
The operations of 94 businesses as digital money lenders in Nigeria have been authorised by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
Only 49 of the digital lenders, however, received full approval, and the other 45 only received conditional approval.
This information was provided by the Commission in a report on its ongoing effort to register digital money lenders in the nation in an effort to combat the problem of unregulated loan apps, sometimes known as loan sharks.
The Limited Interim Regulatory/Registration Framework and Guidelines for Digital Lending, according to the Commission, were developed in conjunction with the Joint Task Force (JTF) to support equitable, open, and advantageous alternative lending possibilities for Nigerians.
Form DLG OO1 is the registration form that requests identity and operating data from the applicant company for the FCCPC, and Form DLG 002 contains declarations regarding:
Legitimacy
Compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
Lawful source of funds and conformity with anti-money laundering and
Data protection laws.
Ghana, country with cheapest internet sub in Africa
The list was created by Cable.co.uk after data from 5,292 mobile data plans in 233 different countries was analyzed. The cost of 1GB of mobile data in each of the 233 nations is listed in the report.
Sub-Saharan Africa is often the second-most costly region in the world for mobile data, according to data from the research.
The survey claims that Ghana, Somalia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sudan, Eswatini, Kenya, and Mauritius are among the nations in the sub-Saharan region where internet access is most reasonably priced, with 1GB of mobile data costing less than a dollar.
According to the survey, Ghana offers mobile data at the lowest price in all of Sub-Saharan Africa, where 1GB costs $0.61. Somalia comes in second position, charging $0.63 for 1GB of mobile data.
Nigeria is third on the list since 1GB of mobile data costs $0.71 there. Tanzania, where 1GB of mobile data costs $0.71, comes in fourth. Sudan completes the top five (5) list with the reported cost of 1GB of mobile data at $0.75.
The study noted that nations with superior 4G or 5G infrastructure typically have more affordable mobile data offers. The sole means to access the internet in these nations is through mobile data, which is more prevalent in nations with limited or no fixed-line broadband. High demand and a variety of service providers might therefore lead to data rates that are incredibly affordable.

Amazon local center in Lagos, Nigeria
Amazon launches Amazon Web Services(AWS) Local Zones in Lagos, Lima and Querétaro. They now have a total of 32 Local Zones; 15 outside of the US and 17 with the US.
In order to enable customers to deploy applications that require single-digit millisecond latency to end users or on-premises data centers, AWS Local Zones are a type of infrastructure deployment that places AWS compute, storage, databases, and other services close to major population, industry, and information technology (IT) centers. Customers can connect smoothly to the rest of their workloads running in AWS Regions while running workloads with low latency needs on AWS Local Zones.
Customers may now simply deploy applications that are close to end users in the metro area thanks to the opening of the new AWS Local Zones facility in Lagos. Customers are able to achieve the low latency needed for use cases like online gaming, live streaming, and augmented and virtual reality by having AWS Local Zones close to significant population centers in metro areas. Customers working in regulated industries like healthcare, finance, and the public sector that may want or need to keep data within a geographic limit can also benefit from using AWS Local Zones.
Customers do not have to spend money and time buying, running, and maintaining infrastructure in numerous cities to provide low-latency applications since AWS administers and supports AWS Local Zones.
